The Norfolk Village of Thorpe Abbotts has a somewhat interesting and unusual claim to fame. One that attracts visitors with an interest in paranormal activity from all over the country. The former RAF base at Thorpe Abbotts is now a museum, though even today is set to play host to one decidedly spooky resident.
Visitors to the site often report ghoulish glimpses of the ghost of an airman dressed in traditional flying gear – at some point over the years given the nickname “Eddie the Ghost”. It’s also not uncommon for visitors to the museum to report feelings of an overpowering presence, or even the sound of radio chatter or aircraft echoing around its rooms. Still, it’s not quite the nightmare you’d think. Some say he’s simply peeping out of the first-floor window each evening to say good night!
Eddie the Ghost is perhaps the village’s most famous resident, but the rest of Thorpe Abbotts certainly isn’t without its charms.
